1 week design competition
Our goal was to prevent massive amounts of medical waste by normalizing the disassembly of syringes and needles so that the opportunity exists for the materials to be properly recycled
There are two separate openings: one for the metal, and one for the plastic part of the syringe. The needle compartment uses a notch to catch the needle and safely detach from the syringe for proper disposal, without having to be touched. The dual compartments allows for separate access and emptying. With a locking mechanism, the compartments come apart to be transported to different cleaning and recycling facilities
